Trampoline Myth Busters Edition 2

Welcome to the second edition of Trampoline Myth Busters!

This week has been filled with weird and wonderful questions about trampolines.

Here are some of my favourite questions… busted.

  • Wil grass grow under my trampoline?

Yes! In fact, grass tends to grow greener and faster under the trampoline as the trampoline mat still allows some sunlight through. When mowing your lawn, simple drag your trampoline out of the way.

  • Is there anything I can do to make my  trampoline last longer?

Consider investing in a trampoline tent, like the Vuly trampoline tent (suitable for all sized trampolines). A shady position will also help to minimise sun exposure to the components of your trampoline.

  • Can I sit my trampoline or uneven ground?

Provided that the slope is not too  great (less than a gradient of 20%), it is possible to level your trampoline by digging a little trench into the ground to support the uphill trampoline leg. The downhill leg base can then be supported on timber blocks. For extra security, considering investing in a Vuly anchor kit, which can be used to further secure your trampoline into the ground.

Olympic Trampolining: London 2012

Ever wondered how tough it is to qualify for the trampoline event at the 2012 London Olympics?

Check out this excerpt from a recent article in Britain’s ‘The Telegraph’ about trampoline rules at the upcoming 2012 London Olympics and find out just how much!

Rules

Athletes, who must be a minimum of 18 years old, compete in a qualifying round that consists of both compulsory and option routines. The top eight advance to the final, which is a single, optional routine.

The compulsory routine must contain a prescribed set of skills, performed in the correct order, while optional routines must contain 10 recognised skills. There is no time limit on performing the routines.

At the end of the performance, the trampolinist should finish in an upright position with both feet on the trampoline bed.

There are nine judges during the Olympic trampolining competition. Five awards points for execution, two score the degree of difficulty and two oversee the contest. The highest and lowest execution scores are dropped and the three remaining scores are added to the single difficulty rating.

Chinese domination. Having won both gold medals at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, Chinese trampolinists have started to monopolise the major medals at international competitions.

Some trampoline jargon, just for your interest!

Barani: Forward somersault with a half-twist.

Randolph: Front somersault with 2.5 twists. Also known as a “Randy”.

Optionals: Moves chosen by the trampoline athlete to show off their skills, often with a high degree of difficulty.

Hello Sunshine!

What’s with the weather?!

In my little spot in Brisbane, it has rained for two months, stormed (or rather, cycloned) and now we’re in a heatwave!

I don’t know about you, but I’m keen to make the most of the sunny weather and finally get some outdoor exercise. The rain has subsided and there is only three weeks left of summer – just enough time to hop onto my Vuly trampoline and get my bounce on!

Until midnight tomorrow, we are giving away a FREE trampoline tent valued up to $140.00 to every customer who purchases any-sized Vuly trampoline and net. Now you can get some much needed shade on your trampoline as the sun finally returns to remind us of the true spirit of Australian summer!

Trampoline Tent Fever!

Add another dimension to the hours of your family’s bouncing fun with Vuly’s Trampoline Tent!

To assembly your Vuly Trampoline Tent, you’ll need to stand inside on the trampoline and line up the inside squares of the tent with the top of the net poles. Then, jump onto the safety padding and pull the tent down over the net poles.

Trampoline tents serve two main purposes:

  • They are UV resistant, so eliminate all risk of sun exposure to your trampoline and to the jumpers inside
  • They are a fantastic cubby house for your family, or an outdoor camping tent

Does your child want to have a sleepover? No problem. Why not use your Vuly Trampoline Tent as an outdoor tent for your children and their friends? It’ll make them feel like they are on a holiday, but give you the peace of mind that they are within the safe confines of the Trampoline Tent only metres away! Vuly Trampoline Tents come in classic blue and are UV-stabilised, meaning harsh UV rays will no longer be a deterrent to your family’s bouncing fun.

With Vuly’s Trampoline Tent, your family can jump for longer, more safely and double their bouncing fun!

Please note: Vuly Trampolines recommends removing your Trampoline Tent in heavy rain conditions. If not assembled correctly, water can pool in the roof and may cause damage to the product. The tent is not a weather cover, the design is intended to provide shade and a playful environment for children.

Trampoline Parties

Mikayla had her sixth birthday party yesterday, and we decided to have a trampoline party.  The kids all had great time jumping on the trampoline, eating pizza and cake, and enjoying the sun.  We were so lucky about the weather..it looked like it was going to rain earlier on the day, but it ended up being the perfect weather for an outdoor party!

Planning a trampoline party was actually a lot easier than I thought it would be.  It was surprisingly hassle-free and was much less expensive than renting another venue, which I was really happy about.  We have had the trampoline for two years, so that was no longer an expense to us.  Really, the only money spent was in sending invitations, ordering pizza, getting the drinks, getting the candles, and buying the cake.  We had the space in the backyard for the kids to use and some of the kids’ parents stayed and enjoyed the festivities with us.  We carefully supervised the kids while they were jumping on the trampoline (one at a time, of course!), and I’m happy to report that everyone listened really well.  Both the kids and the trampoline had a great workout!

Have other mums ever had a trampoline birthday party?  What suggestions would you have for other trampoline party planners?

Trampolines and First Dates

I went on my first date with Adam yesterday. Wow, he’s so cute!  We had dinner by the river and then took a long walk by the water.  He’s so spontaneous… we were walking by a trampoline office headquarters and they had some trampoline models on the outside on the deck.  He pulled me up on the trampoline and we had a great time laughing and jumping together.  He’s so romantic!  We jumped on the trampoline for about an hour, probably, and then we just laid back and counted the stars together. My roommate was worried sick about me when I finally came home at 4 a.m., all smiles.  Oh well…. I’ll have to fill her in today after she gets home from work :)

I think I’m going to have a great relationship with him.  He seems like the kind of guy that I would really want to get to know, and I’m really excited to see where this will take us.  I know we only had one date, but I felt like we had a really crazy connection with each other (and he took me on a trampoline..what’s not awesome about that!!!).  Who knows..maybe this will turn into something really cool!
