A zealous supporter of trampoline sports around the world, Vuly is the proud sponsor of Ben Wilden, Australia’s top-ranked male trampolinist and Olympic trampolining competitor. With his eye set on trampolining in the 2012 London Olympics, I give you an interview between Ben and Vuly in 2010 as he talks about his journey to the top of Australian trampoline sports and beyond.
- How did your trampoline career begin?
My career actually began in my parents’ backyard in Adelaide when I was just a kid. My dad loved to show my brother and me new tricks and safety techniques. My mum had a hard time getting us off the trampoline to come to dinner! (laughs).
- When did you decide that you wanted to be an athletic [trampoline] champion, and how did you mentally prepare yourself for the challenges ahead?
It was just a path that happened. I had little goals that led to big goals, and those goals kept getting bigger and bigger. When you set those little goals and achieve them, you realise that you’re not that far off from the big ones.
- What has been your most difficult [trampoline] performance to date?
I just barely missed the cut for the finals in the Beijing Olympics [trampolining], and that was really tough for me. My first routine did go as well as I wanted to, but I had another performance. I decided I was going to do the best routine I had ever done or fall off trying! I set a personal best record that day.
Vuly wishes Ben Wilden all the best on hisĀ 2012 London Olympic trampolining journey. We know that you will do Australia, and Vuly proud!
