Hello Sunshine!

What’s with the weather?!

In my little spot in Brisbane, it has rained for two months, stormed (or rather, cycloned) and now we’re in a heatwave!

I don’t know about you, but I’m keen to make the most of the sunny weather and finally get some outdoor exercise. The rain has subsided and there is only three weeks left of summer – just enough time to hop onto my Vuly trampoline and get my bounce on!

Until midnight tomorrow, we are giving away a FREE trampoline tent valued up to $140.00 to every customer who purchases any-sized Vuly trampoline and net. Now you can get some much needed shade on your trampoline as the sun finally returns to remind us of the true spirit of Australian summer!

Olympic Trampolining Dreams

A zealous supporter of trampoline sports around the world, Vuly is the proud sponsor of Ben Wilden, Australia’s top-ranked male trampolinist and Olympic trampolining competitor. With his eye set on trampolining in the 2012 London Olympics, I give you an interview between Ben and Vuly in 2010 as he talks about his journey to the top of Australian trampoline sports and beyond.

  • How did your trampoline career begin?

My career actually began in my parents’ backyard in Adelaide when I was just a kid. My dad loved to show my brother and me new tricks and safety techniques. My mum had a hard time getting us off the trampoline to come to dinner! (laughs).

  • When did you decide that you wanted to be an athletic [trampoline] champion, and how did you mentally prepare yourself for the challenges ahead?

It was just a path that happened. I had little goals that led to big goals, and those goals kept getting bigger and bigger. When you set those little goals and achieve them, you realise that you’re not that far off from the big ones.

  • What has been your most difficult [trampoline] performance to date?

I just barely missed the cut for the finals in the Beijing Olympics [trampolining], and that was really tough for me. My first routine did go as well as I wanted to, but I had another performance. I decided I was going to do the best routine I had ever done or fall off trying! I set a personal best record that day.

Vuly wishes Ben Wilden all the best on his 2012 London Olympic trampolining journey. We know that you will do Australia, and Vuly proud!

Trampolines and Tropical Cyclones

Hold on to your trampolines ladies and gentlemen, a tropical cyclone is about to hit North Queensland!

Graded a category five system already, Tropical Cyclone Yasi is hurtling toward the North Queensland Coast, with 295km winds at it’s core.

So, what does this mean for trampoline owners at the top of our beloved Sunshine State?

It means that you should batton down your trampolines ladies and gentleman, because you’re in for a bumpy ride!

Don’t let your trampoline become a missile if Cyclone Yasi hits. Anchor your trampoline to the ground using Vuly’s anchor kit.

Vuly’s trampoline anchor kit is designed to secure your Vuly trampoline into the ground should any extreme weather conditions occur. Our anchor kit is unique in it’s locking system which attaches to the frame of our trampolines and then into the ground using sturdy, galvanised steel pegs.

For instructions on how to use your Vuly Anchor Kit, please click How To Install Your Vuly Anchor Kit.

Vuly wishes all NQ’ers a safe few days, and hopes that Cyclone Yasi passes without causing too much destruction and devastation to those NQ residents already affected by floods or Cyclone Larry. Stay safe everyone!

Vuly Loves My Sportslink Magazine

Attention, readers of My Sportslink and all toy and sports retailers alike!

In the newest annual edition of My Sportslink, guess who you will find gracing the cover? Why, Vuly of course!

In a one-page spread, you will learn about Vuly’s incredible rise to success since CEO Joe Andon brought life to the concept of selling trampolines in 2006. The article discusses the origin of the Vuly name (which was derived from the Ancient Roman God of Smithery, Vulcan) and how Ancient Roman principles contribute to Vuly’s progressive business strategy. When asked about Vuly’s success in recent years, Joe Andon, Vuly CEO, puts it down to “good design, user safety, a ‘special’ top team, along with great value for money”. Says Joe, “our growth, year-on-year, has been incredibly exponential and we are all working hard to continue that”.

My Sportslink is a a fully-searchable Directory where retailers can source specific products and services, information on upcoming trade show and classified ads.

Are you a retailer and love Vuly trampoline products? Vuly is looking for dedicated retailers to join our Team. To inquire about becoming a Vuly Retailer, visit the wholesale section of our website, or call us on 1300 667 514. If you join up as a Vuly Retailer before 31 August 2011, you’ll receive 24 months of trampoline tents, FREE.

Trampoline Myth Busters

When phones get especially busy here at our Head Office (and believe me, they do!), I answer the phone to help out our Customer Service Reps. Since I field a lot of phone calls from customers about trampoline do’s and dont’s, I’ve decided to start up a central reference section for you all called “Trampoline Myth Busters”. In this blog, I’ll attempt to uncover the answers to some of the questions you’ve asked me throughout the week about Vuly, our trampoline products or just trampolines in general.

Want to know whether you can dig your trampoline into the ground? Trampoline Myth Busters will let you know if it’s possible!

Here are some of your top questions this week, BUSTED!

  • How much space should I leave around my trampoline?

Vuly recommends that you leave a foot clearance around the perimeter of your trampoline. Since your trampoline net will give a little bit as you jump into it, this space will allow you to bounce comfortably in the trampoline enclosure without bumping into any obstructions outside the trampoline. Keep your trampoline away from any abrasive materials such as fences, trees or bushes, which could snag onto your trampoline net and cause it to tear.

  • Can my Vuly trampoline be left outside in all weather seasons?

Yes! Your Vuly trampoline is a durable piece of equipment which is designed to be kept outdoors and withstand a variety of weather conditions. To protect your trampoline from harmful sun exposure which may deteriorate your trampoline over time, invest in a Vuly trampoline tent to protect your trampoline safety padding and trampoline net during the warmer summer months. But what about winter, I hear you ask? Not to worry, Vuly’s trampoline tents will also stop rain water from pooling on your trampoline safety padding during the coldest months of the year.

  • Can I order green coloured safety pads for my Vuly trampoline instead of the blue?

Fortunately for you, our trampoline safety padding is double-sided, so you’ll receive both green and blue safety pads when you order a Vuly trampoline. Control the look of your trampoline by rotating your designer trampoline safety padding in Green Funky Free print or Classic Blue.

If you have any questions you’d like answered, post them to this blog and I’ll answer them as soon as I can! Remember – there is no such thing as a stupid question when it comes to your family’s safety on the trampoline.

Join me next time for another update of Trampoline Myth Busters!

Protect your Trampoline from Flash Flooding

I was shocked and upset this morning to see footage on Sunrise of the the devastating flash flooding that has run through the Toowoomba region overnight.

With 8 people confirmed dead, and the death toll looking to rise sharply as rescue efforts are delayed by excess flood waters, it seems pertinent to discuss how we can all do our best to protect our trampolines from extreme weather conditions. It is not only our trampolines that are important; we must also protect ourselves and others from flyaway trampolines that have not been properly secured against strong winds and flash flooding.

It has never been more imperative to ensure that your trampoline is secured against conditions of strong winds and/or flash flooding. Extreme weather conditions such as these may lift your trampoline off the ground and lead to flyaway, potentially causing harm to yourself, your property and to others.

Use a Vuly Anchor Kit to secure your trampoline! Don’t let this be you!

I hope you, your family and your belongings all stay safe during this troublesome and trying time in Brisbane’s history. I am sure we will all get through this together!
